Roon vs audirvana sound quality free download
And again, we liked Audirvana more than Roon. The differences were comparable but with the Mac, everything sounded a level or two better, deeper, wider. Four real players and the Windows Media Player as a baseline. Is there an audible difference in players? You can hear it for yourself in the stream and samples.
Which player is the best? That is a matter of taste, but we can conclude that WMP does not really sound good. Foobar plays much better; everyone can really hear that.
It is and remains fascinating that all four players claim to play bit perfect and yet sound different. Bitpefect does not mean that everything is right. Other things must play a role. Audirvana does change the sound. If you like it or not is up to you.
Audirvana 3. Audirvana Studio is just crap imo… I dont like it at all. In terms of bit perfect output, no – unless it is misconfigured usually not exclusive mode may imply the OS mixer is destroying bit perfectness. For a notebook computer, also check whether you hear a SQ difference when it is charging vs the power supply unplugged from both the notebook and the electricity socket.
Over all these years your posts indicate you refused to accept SQ difference from bit perfect streams. The truth is out there. The key thing is to realize SQ is an analog thing. You are not hearing bits, but an analog conversion of the bits.
Qobuz direct Roon Software Qobuz. I hope my story helps with your choice. Reckoner , Jun 29, Location: Vallejo, CA.
Rolltide , Jun 29, Location: Savage. Roon hands down is the winner. F2k is a good free solution but really clunky in my view. JRiver tagging is perfectly simple to use. I miss it. The downside of JRiver is they won’t ever work with anyone else and won’t even entertain the idea. No integration with internet streaming. No integration with sending the output stream to another software upsampler.
Their answers are always a hard no to any external innovation involving sharing. Audirvana, the old version not studio, works but it doesn’t really integrate your library with streaming. They are two different categories.
It is so convoluted and cumbersome to navigate. Roon does have a little more flexibility in terms of browsing Tidal, but I don’t think it is fun to use. FWIW this is coming from someone age 33 so it is not like I am a geezer struggling to use new technology! Late to the party, but I’ll add my comments.
I have been using Audirvana Plus for several years and Roon for almost a year. Most important to me is sound quality and reliability. I decided to audition Roon in early not sure what version with the free trial, mainly because of the multi-room, multi-device capabilities. Roon sounded somewhat flat, lacking atmosphere and depth in comparison. Roon also integrated my personal library very well with Tidal.
After several months, all the extra features of Roon compelled me to purchase Roon. A year later, I now essentially use Roon most of the time, because of the interface and convenience of remote controls for all zones.
Surprisingly the Radio is excellent feature I did not realize I would enjoy as much as I do. When I do more dedicated listening in my main system, I still use Audirvana. I’ve been super happy with my lifetime subscription, but I got in before the price increases. However, if I was presented with that option now, I would still do it.
DyersEve , Jun 29, Rolltide likes this. Location: Katy, TX. I use JRiver, but it’s more of Swiss Army knife than it is strictly for music. I use it mostly for audio, but my brother uses it mostly for video. You can link a tablet or a smart phone to control it, so you don’t really need to output to video to play music, but it’s best to use the video interface for setting it up.
As far as setting it up, you could consult the forums at the JRiver for instructions on how to set it up. There are countless thread there. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for ask, somebody will have a solution. But JRiver is really nice if you want to cue up albums. It’s really easy to add albums or songs at the end of the playlist. You could get a streaming deck, but I have computers laying around and JRiver will run on even the most modest systems.
It’ll run on a raspberry pi, so really it doesn’t need much at all. It has an excellent Bit-perfect mode. It upsamples PCM tracks. It has thousands of radios. It plays even exotic formats that no player wants to read. And many other features…. The Application exists for Windows, iPhone and Android. It can be used with a DAC and with a network solution. The player is called Neutron Music Player. It has a Russian UI, made in an atomic bunker, but its sound is like the voice of God.
Its library management is also good, once you are used to it. It plays even exotic formats that no player wants to read. And many other features…. It is a Japanese audiophile player, called TuneBrowser. It does not support streaming and is only for local playback. It sounds good, and offers UI and UE of exceptional quality.

The flacs sound great and I have no complaints about the sound quality of Tidal through my DAC. Your DAC has an analog out so you can run an RCA. “JRiver sounds way better than Audirvana”. roon vs jriver vs audirvana. Playing the same song back to back via Roon and via the Qobuz native app, there is no question that the latter sounds better. FWIW I don’t appreciate any difference in sound quality between the Qobuz app and Audirvana. Qobuz has been around longer than Tidal. “JRiver sounds way better than Audirvana”. We switch from ROON to Jriver, Foobar and Windows Media Player. Download the samples. But if we switch from Audirvana to Roon, we must confess: Audirvana sounds better (juicier, if you will). Roon is just a bit more rough and less.
